Once your air is booked, please send us your airline, flight number and arrival time. *Please note: if arriving on Apr 8, should your flight be delayed past the time that the bus leaves for the island, you would need to get transportation to join us on the island or at the castle.

Away from the bustling tourist center of Rome, this hotel located in a quieter, more residential area close to authentic Roman restaurants and the metro station for easy access to everything. (This is a replacement hotel for the one previously listed which I did not approve on the site visit.)

Tentative Daily Agenda (While the features of your tour will not change, the arrangement of them could. We reserve the right to move things around in order to accommodate necessary scheduling with exhibits and drive times.)

Sun, Apr 7 – Fly overnight to Venice (Dinner and breakfast included)

Mon, Apr 8 – Upon arrival at the Venice airport, your Creative Adventures Tour Guide and your luxury motor coach will whisk you away for your first adventure as you board the boat ride to Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square). There we will meet our English-speaking guide who will show you the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Clock tower and do a guided visit to St. Mark’s Basilica with it’s opulent 11th century gold mosaics. Then it’s back to the mainland where you will enjoy time to relax on the bus as we head to your home for the next two nights – Castle Brando – an authentic 13th century castle complete with spa, 3 restaurants, a bar and 3 museums. For those of you who have dreamed of staying in a castle, you may never stay in another like it! Take the virtual tour.

Tues, Apr 9 – After breakfast at the castle, it’s off to Murano Island by Vaporetto. In addition to the main sights, you will get to see your beloved Murano glass blowing demonstration at a local glass shop. From there we will transfer by Vaporetto back to Venice to wander along the Grand Canal and stroll across the iconic Rialto Bridge. Today we will also visit Ca’ Macana for a traditional Venitian mask making demonstration before returning to our castle for a group dinner. (B, D)

Wed, Apr 10 – Today after breakfast we wave goodbye to our castle on a hill and head to the quaint town of Padua – the oldest city in Northern Italy dating to 1183 BC. Here we will wander the Piazza della Ragione, Piazza dei Signori, and Prato della Valle Square, and visit St. Anthony Basilica and Scovegni Chapel to see the amazing Giotto frescoes. After dinner on your own, Jill’s beaders will enjoy their first class, and since our hotel is within walking distance of the heart of Padua, the rest of you are free to enjoy the evening taking in the town’s relaxing charm. (B) (*Please note: in order to get you in the center of Padua, we chose a clean, but very simple hotel for our 1-night stay. After the castle it will feel plain.)

Thu, Apr 11 – Today we will leave behind the cooler climes of Northern Italy and wind our way south to the birthplace of the Renaissance – Florence – in Italy’s lovely Tuscany. We will begin with a visit to Florence’s renowned Leather School where you will see a guilding demonstration. After checking into our hotel with a bit of time for lunch, we will do an afternoon walking tour the main sights of the city including Piazza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio and a visit to the Florence Cathedral (time permitting). (Buses are not permitted in this part of the city. Taxis are an option for those that do not feel they can walk.) (B)

Fri, Apr 12 – The quaint medieval town of San Gimignano will capture your heart today as you explore the Piazza del Duomo, and marvel at the breathtaking architecture and murals of the Cathedral. No trip to Tuscany would be complete without visiting a winery to discover the rich Chianti and other wines of the region. We fell in love with this family-owned winery where you will enjoy a wine tasting, appetizers and light lunch. Back in Florence you will enjoy your second class with Jill. (B, L)

Sat, Apr 13 – You have the entire morning and afternoon free to explore and shop on your own in Florence. Sleep in, shop for leather and enjoy a nice lunch at one of Florences many restaurants. At 6:00 we will head to the cooking school to learn to make Florentine pizza and Gelato and celebrate our trip and the fruits of our labors. (B, D)

Sun, Apr 14 –  After breakfast, our group air guests who are leaving us today will be taken via private car to the Florence airport for your 9:40 departure. Ciao and Viaggi Sicuri! (B)

Sun, Apr 14 – For those of you continuing your journey with us, we head south to Assisi to visit the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, the Temple of Minerva, and the Church of St. Clair, as well as viewing the sights along the Piazza del Comune.  We’ll enjoy lunch together at a local restaurant before traveling the rest of the way to Rome. (B,L)

Mon, Apr 15 – Ahh Rome! We’ll begin with entrance to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel followed by a visit to Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica. A combined panoramic and walking tour will afford you views of the main sights including the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. After dinner on your own, you will enjoy a bonus class with Jill or free time to enjoy Rome’s nightlife. (B)

Tue, Apr 16 – No visit to Rome would be complete without entering the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. After that you will enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to explore and shop. We’ll conclude our time together with a farewell dinner. (B,D)

Wed, Apr 17 – After breakfast our group air guests will board the motor coach one last time for their trip to the Rome airport for a 12:45 flight. If you are not flying group air, you may join them or make your own arrangements for transportation. Alla prossima!

Notes about Walking, Bus Travel and Accommodations:

  • Image result for walking difficulty rating scaleWALKING: There will be a great deal of walking on this tour and many of the streets and sidewalks are cobblestone. Castles and other buildings in Italy are centuries old and there are no “accessibility” laws there. Some buildings we tour will have stairs only, and hills or inclines to get up to them, no elevators, and sometimes no handrails. We do not recommend this tour for anyone with mobility issues. Ability to board a motor coach bus, and the understanding that some sites may not be handicapped accessible is required. In addition to recommending comfortable solid-soled, hiking-style shoes, stability devices are encouraged if you need them. If you are unsure if this is for you, please call us to discuss your options.
  • BUSES & Luggage Maximums*: In order to see 3 major regions in Italy, it does take time to get you from one iconic location to the next. This tour will include some days of bus time of up to 3-4 hours. *The bus only has luggage space for ONE full-sized suitcase and a handbag or backpack (not airline carry-on) per person.
  • HOTELS: Beds in Europe are different than in the US. They are often two single beds moved together to form a double or pulled apart for a twin room. Single rooms could be either a double bed or a single bed.
  • Not all of our hotels have air conditioning. Temperatures in April vary from the north to the south. We recommend layering for your comfort.

Passports – Many European countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of departure. Since you could fly through one of these regions, we strongly recommend your passport have at least six months validity remaining from return date  whenever you travel abroad.

IMPERATIVE! The name given to Creative Adventures for air travel match your passport exactly.
